Summer Time Beauty Fruits

Welcome Summer! We are so glad the days are longer and warmer as we transition into the fun of summertime here in San Diego. We won’t lecture you on the importance of wearing sunscreen because all of you should already be wearing it as part of your daily routine, right?! 🙂

As the Earth sends us into the rotation where avoiding the sun is nearly impossible, it also sends us the healing fruits of the summer to help offset some of the harsh effects. The Earth will always give us what we need and at the right time, so adding these fruits into your daily routine will make your skin, body, and soul joyful.

Watermelon: the iconic summer fruit is beneficial in keeping the skin hydrated during the time of year that dehydrates us the most. It is 92% water, making it full of water and low in calorie density which means it is also a great helper in resisting eating too much at the summer BBQ’s. It contains vitamin A & C, which are our favorite skin healers- if you are paying attention to our IG stories about Environ Skincare, you know how important vitamin A is in healing out skin topically, so adding it internally is like a time machine for your skin.

Cherries: another summer classic that brings us back to our childhood- without even knowing, we were eating a fruit that is filled with antioxidants, beta-carotene, and vitamin C. Antioxidants are overall fantastic for your body, fighting off free radicals and helping heal cells that have been damaged.

The real thing that helps us the most in cherries is going to be the beta-carotene. This little friend is going to help reverse UV radiation and skin damage from the inside out. So if you had a day where you forgot to reapply sunscreen, or the UV radiation for the day was extreme, cherries will be your best friend for helping to heal your skin.

Raspberries: these have been called the best fruit for their healthy properties, but arguably the best thing in them are the Omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids help to regulate skin’s oil production, good for your heart, help to keep your skin hydrated, and help stop signs of aging in your skin. They are also powerhouses of antioxidants- our favorite friend to help reverse damaged cells. Keeping your skin and heart healthy are the most important as we go into Hot Girl/Boy Summer!

Avocados: rich in healthy fats such as monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats- big names that sound intimidating but are vital in keeping the skin hydrated and looking plump and healthy. Both these healthy fats can help protect against UV radiation damage, fine lines and winkles. The other ingredient that is a big player in this green fruit is vitamin C, which is the main ingredient to stimulate and prevent the breakdown of collagen. So that means you have full permission to eat all of the avocado toast your heart desires!

Below you’ll find the recipe to the salad that you’ll catch us eating all summer!
